1Not for airline travel
By DrDick
I purchased this gun case for use on a hunting trip where I would be flying. It is advertised as "airline approved". I'm not sure what that means now as it certainly does not meet TSA requirments for air transport. The case can only be locked by two locking tabs on the front of the case where you would insert pad locks. However, when locked in this manner it is very simple to remove any guns by pulling the ends of the case open. If you look at TSA's website you will see a picture of this exact situation and indicating that this will not pass TSA inspection. I have a single gun case that locks with pad locks in a similar manner but this problem is taken care of by having 4 locking points, including the ends of the case to prevent easy removal of guns from the locked case. Why didn't Plano do the same thing, especially on a large double gun case? In addition, the case does not have a single hinge along the back. It has several short hinges with wire pins as hinges. Similar to other reviewers of this gun case, mine arrived with one of the flimsy hinge pins missing. The missing one happened to be one of the end hinges making access to the guns in the locked case even easier. However, access to the guns from the end with the hinge pin in place was still very easy with the case locked. The pros to this case are the pillars that prevent crushing, and the internal straps to hold the guns in place. Although the attachment of the straps looked flimsy and I'm not sure how long they would stay attached. The case might be good for transporting by means other than airlines, but be warned that this case will not secure your guns using the two pad lock points. I returned mine immediately.

3You get what you pay for.

This case arrived yesterday and was missing a latch. I figured that a new latch would be pretty cheap and I needed it right away so I didn't return the one I received. I put it to immediate use taking a couple of rifles to the range and a pig hunt. So far one of the hinge pins has slightly bent and one of the fins that act as feet when it's standing on the long narrow edge has broken off. I wouldn't dream of putting this case in the hands of a baggage handler. It's also not as big inside as they lead you to believe. The pillars get in the way. I was barely able to get two medium sized rifles with fairly small scopes in it. For the price it'll serve for getting rifles around locally but I won't be buying another Plano gun case. I'll go with Pelican next time.

4Nice case rates a good value
By S. Giuffre
Just received this case from Amazon. Shipping was quick and exactly as ordered. Made of rigid molded plastic outside and foam inside, it's not the most solid case but I'm sure I'll get a lot of use from it.The case is way big. It makes my M&P 15/22 look small. I will be adding a shotgun soon and that should fit in as well. Scopes, mounted or not, will fit as well. To store I slide it under my bed. When you receive this case pull up the bottom foam and place and lock the 4 rails to the base with the provided rings and locking tool. Locking the rails in is a bit too challenging and could be easier but it works fine. You then position the four straps to hold your guns along the rails and feed them through the slots in the foam. The tough vinyl straps have cloth protectors so the straps don't contact the gun directly. The case has two hoops along the latch rail by the handle that allow locks to be used. There are 6 outside latches, four across the front and one on each side and a sturdy handle. One of these fell off while I was installing the straps, but fit right back on. You can carry your guns confidently in this case and, though it's rated for airline use, I'm not sure how many trips through baggage claim it could take.In summary I'm very happy with this case and look forward to many trips to the range with it keeping my guns secure. I took off one star due to the plastic construction and difficulty locking the rails down. If you need a heavy duty case look elsewhere. If you're looking for an affordable, dual rifle case for casual use this is the one.** Update Jan 2012:I still have this and use it often. I can now verify it holds two scoped AR-style rifles just fine. I can also add some accessories to the case and everything stays together and intact. I have even carried handguns with the two rifles. It's a vital tool for me that helps gets my arms too and from the range. Beware the weight you'll bear if you load it as I do, but it can hold a lot and takes a beating! The latches pop off now and then (only when adding or removing items - not when the case is transporting) but they're easy to put back on so no change to my rating. I wouldn't use this for air travel but it's great for ground transport.
