5excellent speaker - HIGHLY recomended!!!
By A. Noblitt
From the moment I took them out of the box I was impressed. Nicely stamped steel basket of quite sturdy material with a high quality rubber surround and poly cone. After putting them into the "custom" holes in the door panels of my '88 Jeep Wrangler and hooking them to the head unit I fired them up and was completly Blown Away! The highs are crisp and oh so clean, the mids make sax's sound like sax's and guitars sound like guitars, the mid bass kick is nice and solid with not-a-speck of mushiness. But it's the tweeter thats the killer in this unit for sure. It just sings! The crash of cymbals is so natural and clean, female voices, everything just sounds so natural coming out of these beauties. And talk about "attack", it's here in spades. Try cranking up Hendrix's "Machine Gun" and see if all the little hairs on the back of your neck don't just stand straight up! Now, all I have them powered by is the head unti at this point, a full 7 watts or so I imagine, and trust me when I say the head unit amp gives out long before the speakers do. The db's just play louder and louder until the amp begins to distort, all the while showing no sign of distortion themselves. They cry to be driven by a good powerful amp! This is the first speaker I have ever had in my Wrangler in the 19 years or so that I have been driving it that can play loud enopugh to be heard over the wind on the highway! Just love these babies and can't wait to get more! Maybe the 4x6 for the dash spots? P.S. These speakers would dovetail very nice with a good subwoofer. They sound nice and tight down to their limit. P.P.S Bolt these speakers down TIGHT ! They are serious air moving pistons and they will shake like crazy. I suggest something metal!

5Polk Speakers
By Me
I bought these for my 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. They fit perfectly in the sound bar. They have been rained on several times and still play and sound fantastic. I couldn't be happier with them!

3Okay - not great, but okay
By J. Canfield
My new-to-me 2006 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited came with the optional factory speakers - a sub-woofer and improved front speakers (and maybe improved roll-bar speakers). I thought the factory sound system did not sound very good (and I'm not an audiophile) and it was hard to hear while driving (we have a soft top.)I replaced the factory sub woofer (that lives in the center console) with a Bazooka speaker, and that immensely improved the low end sound, apparently the factory sub was very sick (not an uncommon situation it seems.) Then I pulled the factory radio and installed a Pioneer head unit and after adjusting the audio parameters, the sound was much better. Then I replaced the front speakers with these Polk's. After hooking them up and giving them a try, I was very disappointed with the sound quality and thought they didn't sound any better than the optional Jeep speakers (actually I thought they sounded worse) - the speakers had way too much low and mid-range response. Noting that the front Jeep speakers used a high-pass filter (a bass blocker), I moved the filters to the Polk's and now the speakers were properly tuned to the sound system and after some tweaking of the Pioneer's audio parameters, the system sounded quite good. These Polk's are okay, but in all honesty I did not gain much audio quality improvement over the optional Jeep front speakers. The Polk's sound perhaps a little crisper. If you were replacing the standard oval Jeep speakers for these, I suspect there would be a significant improvement in sound quality. For my Jeep with the factory optional speakers, replacing the factory sub and head unit was the biggest bang for the buck. If you have the standard speakers, adding a kicker and replacing the front/rear speakers would be a great plan.
