Product Description
Tough enough for the outdoors, stylish enough for mandatory workplace socials, the St. Moritz Atlas Watch sports refined field watch fashion that won't break on you while hiking, climbing and camping. The solid titanium case is lightweight and uncluttered. Unlike the glowing field watches of old, the St. Moritz Blackout superluminous material in the Atlas Watch isn't radioactive, but it still glows for hours after being exposed to bright light for 30 minutes. Just choose one of the classy wristbands from our selection and you're ready to go.

A VERY HONEST AND ATTRACTIVE WATCH
By Lawrence Cutler
This is a very attractive and well-made timepiece that certainly deserves the label "field watch". It looks the part without overdoing the Top Gun or Indiana Jones on Safari look of some other brands. The pros:1. The beautiful solid titanium case has a very appealing satin finish. Unlike stainless steel, it has a greyish pewter-like appearance. And being titanium, it's much lighter and stronger.2. The size is perfect: substantial without being silly. Only someone with Incredible Hulk-sized wrists could complain about it looking too small.3. The face is very clear and easy to read. It bears a very strong (maybe suspicuiously so) resemblance to Citizen's BM6-400-00E. Check it out to see what I mean! Even the hands are the same.) BTW, if you don't like a black face, there are identically cased Atlas models with an olive green, white and even red face. There are even smaller versions for "her". How's that for choice!4. The second hand indexes nicely with the markings.5. The accuracy of the timekeeping is excellent.(The movement is Japanese.)6. The crown and guard are nicely done, the former having a nicely knurled finish.7. The lumination on the hands and numbers is fantastic. Turns night into day.8. You get a screw-in back, lock down crown and 100-metre rating. (The Citizen BM6-400-00E has all these too and a 200-metre rating plus Eco-Drive technology.)9. The date window is nicely done in black-on-white, and has a positive action. I like the way it changes just before midnight, not after it as many other watches do.10. The movement is quiet. (Not as eerily quiet as a Citizen but definitely not a keep-you-awake-at-night tick-tocker.)11. The olive drab (not really khaki) Cordura band suits the watch and appears very well-made and durable. (If you don't like the band, there are identical Atlas models available with other bands, including titanium. In any case, finding a good but inexpensive 20mm after-market band to suit your taste is child's play. Check out the Timefactors or Watchbarn sites.)The Cons:1. For me, I wish the buckled band piece were about 10mm longer so it centred on the inside of my wrist. If I centre the watch on my wrst, the buckle is too far over to one side on the inside of my wrist. Also, I use the second-last hole which makes the second keeper redundant. Out came my band tool; I removed the band and took off the secondary keeper. Now all is fine.2. I wish the hour markings on the chapter ring were more distinct from the second markings. The dashes are bigger but not by much. Maybe small dots would have been better. A matter of personal preference I suppose.3. I wish the tip of the second hand was luminated. (At least the dot counter balance on the other end is.) Also, I would have preferred a white second hand, not the metallic one, which I find harder to see.4. Some people may find the large numbers a bit too much-in-your-face, but they grow on you and they suit the field look.5. The St Moritz Company seems to overdo their play for servicing the watch. It's the only watch I've seen with "DO NOT OPEN" engraved on the caseback, as though you're taking a risk getting even a humble battery change done by a competent local watchmaker. Do they seriously think I'm going to mail my watch to Canada from Australia to get a battery replaced, then wait a month or more to get it back? (Not to mention the postage costs.) Silly. A bit like shipping your Porsche back to Stuttgart to get the oil and plugs changed.Talking of batteries, I've seen some negative reviews from people on other sites who've complained about very short battery life. I haven't had my watch long enough to make a comment. St Moritz said it was due to a faulty batch of parts so I'd say that they have resolved this issue by now. But to be honest, it's such a nice watch that I won't run screaming into the street if it needs replacing in a year's time.So in general, I think it's a quality watch that offers very good value, especially when you consider it has a titanium case and back. That gives it great novelty value, especially at this relatively modest price range. However, if you don't mind stainless steel and you MUST have a 200-metre rating (academic, unless you scuba dive) and Eco-Drive solar power, go for the Citizen BM6-400-00E. (Although, in my opinion, the face of the Atlas is slightly better executed.)LarrySydney, Australia

I like it
By Alexander Higgins
I wear this watch every day, like every other watch I've ever had, and never take it off. It keeps the time despite other reviews. I had a much more expensive titanium solar powered watch before this, which was awesome but a bit flashy. I don't miss it.I like the laid back look of the watch. I'm an engineer and I don't feel under dressed at work or over dressed on the street. The time adjustment screw occasionally unscrews itself which is irritating. I muscled it closed tightly so that I could shower in confidence. Next time it comes undone I'm knocking off a star and applying loc-tite.

Great Buy
By 2012mcg
Great buy. Great because it has many features like the date, waterproof up to 100m, and glow in the dark hands and numbers yet it is a simple and non-flashy design that looks great. The numbers are easy to read. I love the canvas band look. Te only drawback is the band absorbs sweat and can stay to hold some of that odor. Not a major problem, just a minor annoyance. Definitely worth the money.
