A "miraculous" recovery
By Lobsta Johnson
Ok, first off, I am a traditional family practitioner; I have an open mind when it comes to "alternative" treatments but this one blew me away.I suffered from severe nausea and abdominal pain for TWO YEARS after a bout of diverticulitis (for which I took a lot of antibiotics). I had scope after scope and even a CT (and some blood work to rule out pancreatic cancer) and was totally miserable. I dreaded eating and lost about 20 lbs (which is not a usual sign in IBS). My Gastro told me I had IBS and told me to increase the fiber in my diet. Adding CITRUCEL did help, but I still had symptoms. So we tried BENTYL which also helped the really severe symptoms, but the underlying discomfort never went away. They put me on CYMBALTA (an antidepressant that helps with pain) that also helped some. By the time it was all done, I was on a bunch of meds (KAPIDEX (which helps my GERD a lot), METOCLOPRAMIDE were also in the mix) but my symptoms were never totally under control. I had some good days, but a lot of bad days.I finally decided to see another gastro in my area for a second opinion. He had the benefit of seeing all the workup that had been done before and he agreed that the most likely diagnosis was a really bad case of IBS (and yes, I'd been worked up for gluten sensitivity too).He recommended Flora Q 2 and I thought he was out of his mind. His explanation, though, made sense upon thinking about it...I likely had a bacterial colony in my gut that was dysfunctional. Adding the probiotic may help to tweak the numbers in my favor. He explained that the bifidobacterium was the key in most of the newer studies.Anyway to make a really long story slightly shorter, I tried it and within a week I noticed some improvement. I thought it might be a placebo effect, but I was encouraged and kept taking it.Well, a month later, for the first time in two years I am totally symptom-free. No pain, no nausea, it's almost weird because I got used to feeling that way all the time.Anyway, I can't recommend this stuff enough. It's not a panacea, but if someone has a problem with bacterial overgrowth it can be really, really helpful.By the way, there IS a lab test for this, called "Urine Indicans"...if it's positive, it may indicate that a probiotic may help.As always, talk to your regular health care provider before embarking on any new treatments. Your health care provider needs to know EVERYTHING you're on, including over-the-counter supplements and medications.

Works great for me!
By J Newberry
My gastroenterologist recommended this product and it has worked great for me. I'm able to take it every other day, to save money. It's a little pricey, but works well for me (to combat loose bowels).

Flora Q2
By Dru
This was prescribed by my doctor to control some bloating after a stomach infection. It worked well. Also, it does not have L.Casei in it. There is one study showing that L.Casei increases the inflammatory reaction to wheat. I am gluten intolerant so this study result could be very important. Flora Q2 also states on the bottle that it is gluten free - a very rare but nice piece of information for supplement and medicine suppliers to provide. The problem is, it's expensive.
