Expensive but worth it

You can definitely put a sump pump in for less money, but this is SO much better than the cheapo-o we had before.The good:Nice deep sump bucket. Can also get the super-deep 30" model, we decided against it. GREAT suspension system for the pump! The pump hangs from the bucket cover, which damps all the vibrations. Combined with a high-quality pump, the result is whisper-quiet operation. Our old pump rattled the house, we can't even tell when this one is running.Solid-state level switch is a great feature. Other pumps use a moving float that can get stuck or break. This (I think) uses a resistive meter that can tell when the water short-circuits the two contacts. Much less to go wrong!The connection for the wiring out of the bucket is very clean. The 'sump alarm' is an OK feature. The idea is that if the water level is too high an alarm rings, telling you your pump is broken. I don't know that it's loud enough to really get your attention. I like that you can turn it off.The bad:2 to 3x what a home depot special cheapo pump & garbage can would cost. BUT, you get what you pay for. The first one I got from the manufacturer was damaged in shipping due to poor packaging, but they very quickly sent me a replacement.
