Product Description

Your garden becomes a rustic retreat in minutes with the Little Giant Whiskey Barrel with Planter. An antique hand pump replica sits atop a round half whiskey barrel, creating a charming water feature. The top of the barrel features one large reservoir with five circular areas separated from the main reservoir. These 4 inch diameter by 4 inch deep indentations offer housing for your small plants, flowers, or herbs for a bold and functional accent. The faux weathered wood finish with metallic looking bands adds a realistic appearance to the resin unit. The antique pump also features a metallic finish for a more authentic feel. The included 115 gallon per hour pump with built-in flow control connects to the tubing running through the hand pump. The small statuary pump draws water from the reservoir and pushes it through the tubing. The water then gently spills back into the barrel from the mouth of the hand pump. Control the amount of water circulating through the unit using the built-in flow adjuster on the pump. The sturdy resin and plastic construction will tolerate the heat of several summers for an enduring accent. Add country charm to your yard with the Whiskey Barrel with Planter. One year limited warranty.

3Good Looking Planter
By P. Anderson
There are a few good things about this fountain/planter and there are a few bad things. First the good points. The appearance of it once it is put together is of good quality. It actually looks like the picture and is very sturdy. Along with that is the ease of putting the pump section on the barrel itself (which is great since I had to do this several times to attempt to get the flow regulated.) The best part of this is probably the 5 planting spots opposite the pump. It's great to have something to look at other than the fountain itself. But then again, that feature is somewhat flawed. Now to the bad parts of this fountain. Even though it is a typo that it includes a 15GPH pump, it states that it comes with a 115GPH pump. Mine came with a 130GPH pump. This creates a small problem because it starts to fill up and overflow out of the container, quickly emptying the reservoir. At first I tried to regulate the flow using the adjustment wheel on the pump itself but it only turned 1/4 turn and did not help that much. Then it recommended putting a hose clamp on the supply tube, but that didn't work any better and actually started to damage the tube itself. I really like the looks of this fountain and did not want to return it, so I drilled two more 3/8" holes just slightly above and in between the three already there. This appeared to do the trick, although the stream of water being forced out of the pump is way too high.... race horse high!! Not all that serene. The second big problem is the fact that the plant housing areas do not drain at all, so you have to be careful not to let it get saturated and rot the roots. One rain storm will soak the soil - As it did here in Sun Diego last weekend. If it were an option, I would give it 2-1/2 stars instead because of the misrepresented pump rate and non draining plant housings.

5Super cute!
By Wild Child
This fountain is adorable, and a great buy compared to similar but more expensive ones. It's a little bigger than the dimensions advertised, which I was pleasantly surprised with. It took about fifteen minutes to get going, it's dummy proof. I would set the water flow on the pump on high or medium to get a good sound out of it. It looks so cute in front of my bungalow!

4Enjoyable with Reservations
By Vivaldi
This is my second Little Giant Whiskey Barrel Planter, and this model has a planter on the top and there is less water sound unless rocks are piled into the top level. The bottom is the reservoir. In some ways, adding that top layer with the 4 small planter cups seemed a real waste of time but it has greatly reduced water evaporation that we had to watch with our first one. So, we've added a large rock to increase the "splash" sound that makes such products so enjoyable and relaxing. There is a flow changer on it but it is not accessible once the product is assembled - not a good feature. One tip - fill the planter cups with soil before putting this together; otherwise, there is a possibility of soil dropping into the water.Secondly, use pennies in the bottom resoivoir and a few in the top as well - the copper retards the growth of bacteria and fungi.Would I buy this again? Definitely. And, in future, it can be painted and should over the years. New Little Giant pumps can be purchased if this one goes Kaput, too.
