A great complement to Vista Aero
By B. Franklin "Justin"
First let me say that I am hardly an expert in PC displays and have a great deal more experience with LCD HDTVs. This is my first TFT display, and I am absolutely floored at how much more enjoyable the visual experience of Windows Vista Aero is.I am running the display in 1440 x 900 and it looks bright, sharp and the colors are perfect. The display comes with a fairly advanced configuration tool, HP My Display, for those who really want to tweak settings for maximum accuracy in colors, brightness and sharpness. I have not had to use this yet, as the default settings seem too good for me to do any better. If you have been using a regular LCD display or a CRT monitor, buying a solid TFT display like this is well worth the money. It's like wiping away that cloudy film that builds up on a car windshield. The speakers are convenient, but low-quality. This did not prevent me from giving the unit a 5 because that's what I expect from built-in speakers. They are not visible, located on the bottom of the monitor. Quality-wise they are probably on par with fairly good built-in notebook speakers (primary issue being no bass).

Better Than Expected
By Kevin E. Collet
I've had my HP W1907 a little over a week now and can't get enough of it.The only reason I didn't give it a five is because it sits so low (or does it just "seem" to sit low because I'm not used to a widescreen?). Unfortunately, I have to put my monitor and keyboard on a tabletop rather than an actual PC station. Because the monitor is on the same plane as the keyboard, I had to use a phonebook to elevate the monitor up. I also had to elevate it up in order to view the monitor at a proper sightline. There has been other comments made that the default resolution is too high, but I'm enjoying the brightness it brings to everything. One poster said optimum performance is at an 80 brightness and a 65 contrast. I may try it one day, but for now I'm enjoying the bright experience. I haven't had any trouble with glare on the glossy screen (and I was worried about that), so that's a good thing. I have also been aware of the room darkness when on the monitor. It would not be a good monitor for those who like insanely bright lights. I prefer a darker room anyway.All-in-all an awesome monitor. I toyed with the idea of getting the 20" or 22" screen, but the 19" is more than satisfactory for my small living conditions. A very good piece of equipment for the money...

A Very Good Monitor
By WW
I bought this monitor a couple of months ago to go along with a new HP system I had just purchased. I'm running Windows XP Professional and have had no problems installing and using this monitor. Here are a few points to consider:-The display is quite bright. I had to adjust it down to a setting of 10.-Text and images are very sharp. This appears to reduce or eliminate the eye fatigue that I have experienced while working on non-TFT LCD monitors for long periods of time.-The built-in speakers are thin and tinny-sounding. Don't expect too much from them.-The monitor is mounted low on the stand and there is no height adjustment. I've had to set it on top of several books in order to achieve a comfortable height. This monitor is also useful for editing and displaying digital photos. It is so sharp that it can reveal some flaws (i.e. noise from low light situations) in photos that just aren't visible on older LCDs.Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase of this monitor. If you are looking to upgrade your display, the HP w1907 is definitely worth consideration.
