2A Chinese watch, pretty, a bit gaudy, but good value...?
By Frank Edema
This is a Chinese no-name brand. However, for the price, you are getting a lot of watch, and if the style is what you like, go for it! Just don't be suckered into thinking this is an expensive Swiss "time piece". Chinese manufacture is not per se a bad thing, but as with many Chinese products, quality control may be excellent or may be very shoddy, and availability of parts and repairs is likely to vary as these brands and sellers appear and disappear. The watch forums show that this company is paying attention to customer service and - it at least one credible post - seems to be taking extra steps to insure repair customers are taken care of well. However, prospective buyers should search the Amazon reviews on these watches carefully - not just this watch but other models - they will discover a host of quality control issues with this company. Many take exception with what they find is deceptive marketing and pricing done by this brand. In particular, the true origin of these watches is never honestly stated. I think the country of origin should not be hidden, but instead revealed somewhere in the ad, because that type of information is useful to the watch-buying public. The ad copy for this watch is intended to make the buyer think this is a swiss watch. The words "Swiss" or Switzerland" are used 5 times in the first paragraph. Buyers are served up a load of malarkey about "traditional Swiss techniques" and "Swiss heritage", "Swiss watchmaking" and "antique German machines". There appears to be a genuine desire to deceive the unsophisticated buyer into thinking this is a Swiss watch. Then there is this notion that this watch is an "Heirloom". This is a $150 watch to wear and enjoy, not an "investment". The artificially inflated prices are posted to mislead unsophisticated buyers into thinking they are saving big money on these low-cost Chinese watches. There is no "investment value" in this "Stuhrling time peice"! (spelling from the other review)Do not be fooled by some of the glowing reviews - if you look at many of the 5-star reviews carefully you will begin to see they are posted by shills for the company. It's funny that the only 5-star review almost perfectly echos the party line on this watch...I wonder who posted it? Check the strongly positive reviews for this watch brand all over Amazon - you'll see they follow a common script.

4Retirement Gift
By Derek
The watch is very nice. A bit heavy though, wasn't expecting that much weight. This was a retirement gift and was very well received.
